What insurance do I need for a dog grooming business?
Public liability insurance
As someone who cares for canines and services their owners, public liability insurance for dog groomers is essential for your line of work. It protects you for claims of accidental injury or property damage to the public and the death, harm to or disease of any animal in the course of your business.
Contents and equipment insurance
From adjustable tables to top-of-the-range clippers, professional dog grooming needs a lot of high-quality and specialist equipment. Business contents insurance is designed to cover the costs of replacement or repair if the things you use to run your business get lost, stolen or and damaged. This is also handy for things like computers, laptops and phones. If you're mobile, our protection will also cover your insured contents and equipment in the UK and temporarily anywhere in the world.
Employers' liability insurance
If you hire people to help out with your grooming services, employers' liability insurance (EL) is a legal requirement in the UK for you. If you're currently a solo operation but want to add EL to your policy in the future, you can make changes whenever you like (at no extra cost).
Cyber insurance
The nature of your business means you'll most likely hold personal data of your customers (for example, contact information and card details). This means you may want to consider cyber insurance. If a claim arises from cyber and data liability or you experience a security breach, cyber insurance is made to cover you for legal and compensation fees as well as financial loss as a result of a breach.
Once you've completed a quote, you'll be able to view a summary of cover. Please always refer to your policy documents for full details around exclusions, terms and limits of your customised cover. Read our guide to understanding your policy documents.
